Whether it’s the ultra, 4ok or half marathon, enter for the chance to run through some of Britain’s most beautiful countryside this autumn.

The Surrey Hills Challenge is one of the biggest sporting challenges in Surrey. Five running and walking events will take place on the beautiful landscape of the Surrey Hills, Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) on Sunday 24 September 2017 raising funds for the Surrey Hills Trust Fund, part of the Community Foundation for Surrey.

Surrey Hills ChallengeOur competitive routes for the fittest walkers and runners are The Ultra (60k), The Forty (40k) and The Half (21k). The Ultra route starts in the picturesque town of Haslemere and follows the Greensand Way. Participants will scale Gibbet Hill, Wormley Hill, Hydon’s Ball, Hascombe Hill, Pitch Hill, Holmbury Hill, Leith Hill, and finally White Downs and the North Downs Way.

The Forty starts from Witley and follows the same route as the Ultra. The Half joins the Ultra and the Forty at the Duke of Kent School, before heading towards Leith Hill, the highest point along the Greensand Way at 954ft.

Starting at Denbies Wine Estate with The Five, The Ten is a hilly and technical challenge to walk or run, encompassing wide open tracks, footpaths and woodland trails. Branching off from The Five, The Ten heads out onto Surrey farmland and into Dorking woods before tackling the North Downs Way. The Five loops around through the North Downs woodland before the homeward stretch opens out onto stunning views across Denbies and Boxhill.

The Ten re-joins The Five at Ashcombe Wood along with the Ultra, Forty and Half challengers as they begin their descent down into Denbies where the finish is located.

The Race Village at Denbies is where medals and prizes are awarded and is also the main hub and meeting point for all our participants and their supporters. With refreshments and entertainment available from 10am until 6.30pm, it is the heart of the challenge.
