A trio of new specially engraved medals will be presented to competitors at the Ikano Bank Robin Hood Marathon, Half Marathon and Mini Marathon.
All three medals include a Stag, which the race adopted as its motif two years ago as it is synonymous with Nottingham and the scenic Wollaton Park, one of the many famous landmarks on the picturesque Nottingham route.
Thousands of runners are expected to cross the finish line when the event takes place on September 24th.
This year the Stag antlers are shaped from tree branches to represent the iconic Sherwood Forest, the home of Robin Hood. The concept was created by the Marathon’s events team and the design process took four months.
Each amazing medal has its own unique design, which every runner can be proud of when they reach the finish line. The Full Marathon Medal is edged green with matching ribbon and is the biggest of the three medals. The Half Marathon Medal has a cut out stag design with orange trim and ribbon. Similarly, the Mini Marathon Medal also has a cut out design but with red surrounding and ribbon.
Judith Manson, Race Director, said: “After two years of having the Stag head design within the medal, we’ve decided to make it a permanent feature as it truly represents Nottingham.
The race medals always incorporate the history of this great city and we’re looking forward to celebrating our runner’s successes by placing them round their necks once they cross that finish line symbolising their great achievement.”
