The innovative, award-winning Swiss sports brand On is delighted to announce that it has joined forces with British long-distance runner Chris Thompson.

Newly signed as the brand’s latest athlete ambassador, the partnership will kick off at the 2017 London Marathon where Thompson will run in On’s brand new, revolutionary Cloudflash racing shoe.

36 year old long-distance runner Thompson discovered his real passion for running at the age of 12 and began his career in regional cross country races and championships gaining success early on with a number of regional cross-country event wins, including the Home International Cross Country.  Following this, Thompson lifted team silver and then team gold in the European Junior Cross-Country Championships in 1998 and 1999. In 2000, the athlete produced an impressive individual silver medal in the European Junior Cross-Country in Sweden, followed by many first places in smaller endurance events around Britain.

It was in 2010 that Thompson’s efforts and determination awarded him national success.  He won the European trials and UK Championships in the 5,000 metres and finished third at the BUPA London 10,000 metres race.  In 2010, he won the silver medal in the 10,000 metres at the 2010 European Athletics Championships behind his compatriot Mo Farah. Aside from 2017 London Marathon another big focus for Thompson this year is to qualify a place on the World Championship team in August.

Thompson has got off to a flying start in the CloudFlash, winning the Trafford 10k, widely regarding as the fastest road 10k in the UK. Chris dominated the race, winning by over half a minute in a time of 28mins 55 seconds to run the fastest time by a Britain in the UK this year.
