Tomorrow, adidas will release the AM4SH shoe, the latest in a series of high performance running footwear the brand is producing in its digital and automated SPEEDFACTORY facilities.
With the intention to create a specialized running shoe for those who run as a part of their training regiment, adidas needed a design solution that provides the multi-directional stability and support the athlete requires for running drills. To achieve this, adidas analyzed years of aggregated sport science data on running movement, then used these data to design a specialized fit that can provide full upper lock down with minimal weight.
This data-driven upper design is then verified with local athletes such as Wen Di (captain of Tong Ji University’s American Football team) and Ye Ming (player on the Dong Hua University Basketball team), before being brought to life at SPEEDFACTORY. Through a unique process of fit programming, tension patches are digitally mapped onto the shoe upper, puzzling together varying stretch and stiffness for a precise fit that delivers the best support and stretch for every movement, in every direction.
Aside from the programmed upper, AM4SH also features:
Floating Torsion Bar – for effortless movement
adidas’ iconic Torsion system redesigned and digitally embedded to “float” inside the sole without stiffness of adhesives. Precisely balancing flexibility with stability for best heel to toe transition.
Fused Bonding Construction- for direct comfort
Precise digital bonding of sole to upper eliminates glue, giving you the most direct experience of BOOST comfort.
BOOST- for energy return
BOOST is our most responsive cushioning ever: The more energy you give, the more you get.
AM4SH goes on sale together with previous AM4 city series releases at adidas.com and select retailers on July 27, 2018. It will retail for 200 USD/ 200 EUR/ 1299 RMB. As a part of the launch, adidas is opening up a SPEEDFACTORY Data Lab in Shanghai at the Republic of Sport festival for the public get a glimpse of the future of creation with the brand and find out more about SPEEDFACTORY.
