Virgin Breakfast show DJ, Chris Evans, has announced the official line-up that will be appearing at the inaugural RunFestRun event.
The announcement came when Chris and the team attempted a series of fun running challenges whilst live on air.
Two teams consisting of Team Crackson, led by Steve Cram and Colin Jackson and Team Vash, led by Vassos Alexander and Natasha Evans, competed against each other to see who could run 10k in the quickest time.
A member of our team, Michelle Yates, joined Team Crackson for the launch event and said;
“It was a surreal experience to be a part of the launch for RunFestRun; combining running and music into a weekend festival experience is a genius idea and having a mini-RunFestRun experience last week was incredible. Listening to Reef play live while running on a treadmill and watching Chris Evans’ Breakfast Show was a brilliant way to start my Friday. The two treadmill running teams encouraged each other while enjoying the competition and having a lot of fun. That is what RunFestRun is all about; FUN! The atmosphere of the day epitomised everything that RunFestRun stands for and to listening to Chris Evans talk about the reason behind it was inspiring.
Speaking as a Personal Trainer the ethos of encouraging people to become more active while having fun is a concept close to my heart. It’s not about fitness or speed, far from it, it is about having fun, moving more and enjoying the team atmosphere.”
Billed as ‘Britain’s big new running party’, the family-friendly festival will take place from 31st May-2nd June this year in the beautiful grounds of Bowood House and Gardens.
The three-day camping festival will include running routes around the beautiful Bowood House & Gardens. Ranging from an immersive 2.5K fun run through to a timed half marathon, there’s something for every member of the family.
The event will kick off with a ‘Feel Good Friday’ that includes a Sunset Shuffle, led by our running celebrities, followed by music from Razorlight and Reef.
Super Saturday will offer a challenge for both seasoned marathon runners along with those just starting their fitness journey and culminate in an incredible party including Ten Tonnes, The Coral, Faithless DJ set and headliner, Olly Murs.
Sunday will see Bowood turn to Bugwood as a fancy dress bug themed fun run swarms the venue. Dressed up runners will take on the 2.5k or 5k Big Bug Run with special challenges to win extra points for your team. The run will be followed by a mega lunchtime party with two hours of amazing bands, DJs, street acts and special guests before the closing ceremony at 3pm.
The weekend will also boast a host of top talent from great sporting speakers to food fanatics, mindfulness mentors and awesome authors.
The current line-up includes, Fearne Cotton, Melissa Hemsley, Jo Pavey, Christine Ohuruogu & Ben Smith to name but a few.
“We want people to join us for an amazing weekend of running while having a great time outdoors with friends and family. We’ve signed up some incredible talent that should really help inspire and entertain throughout the festival”, commented Chris Evans.
Vassos Alexander, co-host of RunFestRun added, “It’s basically my dream event. Chris and I developed the idea because we just want people to run, have fun and have a party. Three shiny happy days with everyone going home with a great big grin on their face.
“As well as all the above, there will also be lots of different activities to keep the kids entertained across the weekend. From fancy dress and mask making, to sports day games and live theatre shows, they won’t get bored!”
