Following the sold-out Hackney Half Marathon, Virgin Sport will hold it’s second event of 2018 – The British 10K on Sunday 15th July 2018!
Over 10,000 runners will take part in the ultimate tour of Central London. This headline running event will include a very patriotic British street party on the move, with bands and DJs at every kilometre, inspiring runners to pound the streets to the beat!
2018 marks 100 years since women gained the right to vote in the UK, yet women around the world are still four times more likely than men to be abused, intimidated and prevented from voting.
To honour this momentous centenary, Virgin Sport has partnered with UN Women National Committee UK to create this charity initiative – the Westminster 100. 100 women will run together to raise funds to empower voiceless women around the world to safely practice their right to vote. This will take place at the Virgin Sport British 10K in Westminster on Sunday 15th July.
The exclusive team will consist of carefully selected competition winners, inspirational British influencers, business leaders, sports personalities and editors.
The Westminster 100 team will be fundraising for UN Women’s global work in political access and empowerment, helping further their work to break down legal, social and cultural barriers that prevent women from voting worldwide. For example, in parts of Pakistan, female voter turnout was reportedly as low as 3% in recent elections. UN Women is working to give every woman and girl this fundamental right.
Tickets are now available to run the British 10K on 15th July and raise money for UN Women UK and this great cause!
