Everyday healthcare provider Simplyhealth has launched its Active Plan to help those with an active lifestyle to reach their personal best.
For runners of any level from beginners, those preparing for an event through to marathon runners, the plan can help to reduce the risk of injury by addressing some of those ongoing injuries picked up during hours of training.
Simplyhealth, title partner of the Great Run Series, is committed to helping people achieve their personal best and have developed a plan specifically to support those who lead an active lifestyle including runners. The Active Plan boasts a number of key benefits which includes immediate access to sports massage*, gait analysis through a podiatrist and a ‘Body MOT’ health assessment from a medical professional to give an overview of current health and readiness for running.
Research carried out by Simplyhealth found the majority of people surveyed are motivated to run to get or stay fit and healthy (80%) or to stay active (77%), and more than half (56%) of people stated they run to de-stress or improve their mental wellbeing.
Over one third (37%) of runners questioned have experienced an injury in the last year. Over half of those (54%) stopped running for a while, a third (36%) had physiotherapy, a quarter (26%) used sports massage and 11% of runners had gait analysis to help treat the injury.
Michael Rudman, Director of Commercial at Simplyhealth, said: “Whether you’re a complete beginner, or a seasoned pro with many marathons under your belt, the Simplyhealth Active Plan offers a range of benefits designed to provide access to health professionals helping you stay injury-free and perform at your best.
“We know through the Simplyhealth Great Run Series just how important it is to make sure your body is well prepared so you can achieve your personal goal. From sports massage* to gait analysis, the Simplyhealth Active Plan gives you access to the health support you need to be the best you can be, when you need it most.”
